Understanding Your Food

Food is what we eat in order to survive.  When we eat we are taking the food, converting it into both energy and waste.  The protein in the foods we eat is transformed into the building blocks that allow us to grow and the rest of the vitamins and minerals associated with food help us stay healthy.  However, over time our bodies will begin to change.  As a result, we will need to go and see a gastroenterology specialist in Daniel Island to ensure that we are doing everything we can to stay healthy.

Eat large meal in the morning

Many people do this in reverse and eat a small meal in the morning or skip the meal all together.  When we eat a large meal in the morning, we are giving ourselves the fuel to get through our day.  When we eat later in the day our bodies are not as efficient and won’t break down the food properly causing us to gain weight and feel sluggish.

Avoid sugar

Sugar is the greatest thing in the world.  However, it is not good for us.  Sugar is a part of the digestion process that turns either into energy or into fat.  Sugar is what we call glucose and this glucose is what turns into fat.  When we avoid sugar, we are not giving our bodies this material to create fat.

Get sleep and exercise

Our bodies need to both move and rest.  When we eat food however, we want to be in the moving phase of our day.  We want to eat and move, eat and move.  However, most of us will starve ourselves throughout the day and then eat a large meal and rest.  This is very bad and is not good for digestion and overall health.
